McGilligan, Patrick, "Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light," Interview; Sep 2003, Vol. 33 Issue 8, p96-101
This article is an interview with Hitchcock himself explaining the making of Rear Window." This film is a great example of the male gaze because it is all about looking, and gazing, and certain perspectives. The article not only has great examples I can use in my essay, but actual quotes and answers to questions from the director himself.

Beside the article that you found having great quotes, how else can this piece of research be used for your essay?
I've seen that movie. It's pretty good. Do you think you want to focus on Alfred Hitchcock in your essay or more prominently the male gaze overall?? I know Andy told me today in the conference that people are having a difficult time narrowing down their topic. Do you think this could be a good opportunity for you to narrow your topic down?
I think it is interesting that you have found an interview with the director. It offers an interesting perspective on your project (depending on how you write your project, Hitchcock might be considered a stakeholder). However, I want to remind you that, just because Hitchcock is the director of the movie, it doesn't mean that his opinion of the film is more "correct" than other critics. His reading of the film is just one of the possible readings. In many ways, your reading is just as valuable, if not more valuable, than his.
(p.s. Rear Window is one of my favorite Hitchcock films, for what it is worth)
